American Cedar & Millwork celebrates 35 years in business

October 14, 2019

American Cedar & Millwork, a local, high-quality building supply company which was founded in Lewes, hosted a celebration Sept. 19 commemorating its 35 years in business. The event, held at their Route 1 location, attracted more than 200 customers, partners and employees. It included refreshments from Hooper’s crab truck and Vanderwende’s farm-fresh ice cream, among others.

Entertainment was provided by the Loose Ties band with games, giveaways and a trivia time hosted by American Cedar owner Mike Neal. The highlight of the event was a simultaneous prize drawing in Lewes as well as their Maryland and North Carolina locations for the grand prize of a Jeep, and second and third prizes of a $2,500 Southwest gift certificate and an iPad Pro. The grand prize winner, Bob Purcell of Beachwood Builders (also started in Delaware in 1984), received a brand-new, 2019 Jeep Wrangler Sport, which was sponsored by Madison Wood and MARVIN.

Founded by Mike and Julie Neal, American Cedar & Millwork began in 1984 as Delaware Cedar Company in a small building on Route 1 with just three employees. ACM has grown from a small, family-run operation serving Lewes and surrounding areas to a leading building supply company with approximately 100 employees and thousands of customers across the Mid-Atlantic and showrooms in Lewes; Baltimore and Millersville, Md.; and Raleigh, N.C.  The product line has also grown from cedar siding and shingles to include kitchen and bath cabinetry and design, windows and doors, interior mouldings, decking, lumber and more.

“Our business has grown alongside the Delaware beach community, and we are so proud of our Delaware roots and the tremendous support we have received over the last 35 years. It has been an honor and pleasure to serve our customers over the last three decades, and we look forward to working with you in the future,” said founder Mike Neal.

American Cedar & Millwork provides quality building materials and expertise in the Mid-Atlantic region, supplying windows and doors, kitchen and bath cabinetry and design, interior mouldings, decking, lumber and more. Its professional staff members use their top-level expertise to deliver knowledge and materials to professional contractors, architects and homeowners to bring their projects to life. The company was founded 35 years ago on the principles of providing quality craftsmanship and excellent service above all else.
