Antonio ‘Tony’ J. D’Amico Jr., Lewes library IT
Tony D’Amico Jr., 71, of Lewes passed away at Harbor Healthcare in Lewes Wednesday, April 22, 2020.
Born in Camden, N.J., to Antonio J. D’Amico and Regina Berger D’Amico, Tony was a graduate of Bishop Eustace Prep School in Pennsauken, N.J., and Christian Brothers College in Memphis, Tenn. Tony went on to become a New Jersey State Trooper and a small business owner of A-1 Countertops in Millsboro with his brother Joe.
When a ruptured brain aneurysm and stroke in 1992 made it impossible for Tony to continue working in the countertop business, he returned to school and became an IT professional, ultimately finding rewarding work with Lewes Public Library.
Tony was a U.S. history buff and enjoyed the music of Andrea Bocelli, but was known most for his avid love of sports, especially the Philadelphia Eagles. He and his brothers held season tickets for many years and received well wishes from then head coach Rich Kotite following Tony’s stroke.
Preceded in death by his youngest brother Christopher D’Amico, Tony is survived by his parents; his brother Michael D’Amico; his brother and sister-in-law Joe and Mary Beth D’Amico of Lewes; sister-in-law Christine D’Amico of Ocean, N.J.; nieces and nephews Gina D’Amico (Brian Chorney) of St. Petersburg, Fla., Joseph D’Amico Jr. of Oceanside, Calif., Veronica D’Amico (Johnathon Brown) of Wilmington, Matthew D’Amico of Brooklyn, N.Y., Suzanne D’Amico of Baltimore, Md.; and grand-nephew Johnathon Antonio Brown.
