Apply by May 15 for Fresh Start scholarship funds

The Fresh Start Scholarship Foundation application for college scholarships is open until Saturday, May 15. Women who have had a gap in their education and are going back to school to get their undergraduate degree at a Delaware college are eligible to apply for a scholarship. 

Fresh Start helps Delaware women who have faced personal and economic challenges, and wish to improve opportunities for themselves and their families through education. Scholarship recipients are chosen based on need, academic record, and motivation to succeed. Since 1996, Fresh Start has awarded almost 600 scholarships totaling over $1.2 million to women across Delaware. 

Because most Fresh Start scholars are the first in their families to attend college, each of them is matched with a mentor – a professional woman who has graduated from college and can help her scholar navigate through the college process and cheer her on to the graduation finish line. These scholars not only improve their lives through education, they also become role models to their friends, family and communities.
