Bauer elected to lead Delaware League of Local Governments
Dewey Beach Commissioner Paul Bauer was elected in December to serve as president of the Delaware League of Local Governments for a two-year term beginning in January 2026.
The league was founded in 1963 as a nonpartisan, nonprofit association that works to represent the interests of all three counties and 57 municipalities throughout the state of Delaware.
DLLG is a full-time advocate for legislative and policy issues affecting Delaware’s local governments. The league’s primary function is to work with the Delaware General Assembly on behalf of municipal and county governments. The league speaks as a collective voice to ensure that Delaware legislators partner with local governments and prioritize local issues in state policy. The league also provides resources to influence state policies that impose mandates, restrict local government authority or reduce state funding.
Bauer will continue to serve as a commissioner in Dewey Beach as well as representing wider interests through the league’s Legislative Advocacy Group.
He is a firm believer that the elected officials closest to the issues are best equipped to understand and solve those issues, and that home rule needs to be considered in the drafting of state legislation so the interests of local communities are fairly represented.
