Bayhealth and Nemours cut ribbon on new facility

April 28, 2021

Bayhealth and Nemours Children’s Health System officially cut the ribbon April 21 on a joint medical office building adjacent to Bayhealth’s new hospital in Milford.

The Nemours facility, which opened in November, offers expanded specialty pediatric care including surgery, audiology, dentistry, therapy and diagnostic imaging. Nemours also offers dental, vision and hearing screenings for eligible seniors.

The 35,000-square-foot, three-story building also contains offices for Bayhealth doctors on the second and third floors. Services include endocrinology, maternity care, urology and cardiology.  Bayhealth team members welcomed the first patients in December.

Speaking at the April 21 ribbon-cutting, Lt. Gov. Bethany Hall-Long said, “As a nurse and a mom I know how important it is to have the best level of care accessible to our children when they need it. The collaboration between Nemours and Bayhealth will provide access to world-class healthcare for our families. Many more Delawareans will now be better served by getting specialized pediatric care for the whole child closer to home.”

Bayhealth President and CEO Terry Murphy said, “Our collaboration with Nemours Children’s Health System gives our southern Delaware community more convenient access to pediatric primary care and specialty physicians.”

For Nemours, the new facility allows families in Sussex County to receive healthcare without having to drive more than an hour to Nemours’ hospital in Wilmington.

Mark Mumford, CEO of Nemours’ Delaware Valley Operations, said, “Understanding that every child should have easy access to the care they need, no matter where they live, we are proud to be bringing our world-class specialty care closer to home for these families.”
