Bayhealth Heart & Vascular Institute welcomes new cardiology chief
Bayhealth Heart & Vascular Institute recently welcomed Aditya Sharma, MD, MBA, FACC, FSCAI, as the new chief of medical cardiology. He will serve as the physician lead for the Bayhealth Cardiology offices overseeing a team of highly skilled cardiologists, interventionalists and advanced practice clinicians.
Bayhealth Heart & Vascular Institute is a comprehensive cardiovascular center of excellence and the only nationally recognized HeartCARE Center in central and southern Delaware.
Sharma brings extensive experience in interventional cardiology and cardiovascular leadership. Before joining Bayhealth, he served as an interventional cardiologist at Geisinger Medical Clinic in Camp Hill, Pa., followed by his role as Cardiology Service Line director for the West Region at WellSpan Health in Carlisle, Pa.

Sharma pursued medicine because of his passion for public health to help meet the needs of the people in the communities he would call home. He earned his medical degree from Kasturba Medical College in Manipal, Karnataka, India, then completed internal medicine residencies at Penn State Hershey Medical Center and later at George Washington University, where he served as chief resident. He remained at GW to complete fellowships in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology. He also completed a health policy fellowship and obtained a master of business administration degree at GW.

In addition to his leadership responsibilities, Sharma will be seeing patients at Bayhealth Cardiology, Milford.
