Beach Babies employees Connie Horsey, left, and Mercedes Harrod made caterpillar gifts for parents, a nod to Eric Carle’s children’s book “The Very Hungry Caterpillar.”

Beach Babies Childcare in Lewes kicked off the new school year with an open house Sept. 13.
Curriculum Coordinator Rhonda Duncan said staff created book-featured activities for children in each classroom.
