Betty Jean Henry, Nanticoke Memorial Hospital retiree

May 12, 2025

Betty Jean Henry, 91, of Bridgeville, departed this life peacefully Thursday, May 8, 2025, at TidalHealth Hospital in Seaford, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Georgetown May 5, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Lee and Myrtle (Oney) Pettyjohn. She was also preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers. Betty attended Richard Allen School and William C. Jason High School in Georgetown.

She retired from Nanticoke Memorial Hospital (now TidalHealth) in 1993. Betty was a dedicated member and volunteer at the Bridgeville Senior Center for 25 years, where she also served on the board. She enjoyed playing bingo, attending biblical plays at Sight & Sound, being co-pilot for Rev. Robinson during their adventures, and watching westerns, the Hallmark Channel, and the TBN Christian Channel. She also loved doing word search puzzles.

One of her greatest joys was being “Mom-Mom Betty” to her grandson, Justin, and spending time with her family.

She leaves cherished memories with two devoted daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Alphonso Davis, and Michele and Douglas Holden; her beloved grandson, Justin L. Davis; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Rev. Marie Robinson, Pat Holden, Cynthia Bagwell and Sylvia Jacobs.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.

To honor our mother and grandmother’s wishes, services will be private.
