Beverly H. McCarty, owned bait and tackle shop

Beverly H. McCarty, 89, of Lewes, passed away Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes. She was born Monday, June 4, 1928, in Clifton Heights, Pa., daughter of the late Samuel and Millie (Lutkin) Howarth.

Mrs. McCarty moved to Lewes from Pennsylvania as a young child and remained here. She was a graduate of Lewes High School, class of 1946, and a lifelong member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Lewes. Mrs. McCarty owned and operated Mac's Bait and Tackle for 25 years with her husband, Jack. In her spare time, Mrs. McCarty enjoyed riding along Rehoboth Avenue, Louie's Pizza, and great telephone conversations with her friends. Above all, she cherished time spent with her adored family. Mrs. McCarty was a strong, loving, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. McCarty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John "Jack" McCarty Sr. in 2007; her sons: Patrick Jay McCarty in 2001, Richard Alan McCarty in 2005 and Michael Lee McCarty in 2013; her brother, Samuel C. Howarth Jr.; and her sister, Marjorie H. Bakke. She is survived by her son, John "Jack" McCarty Jr.; her daughter-in-law, Carlie McCarty; her grandchildren: Shane (Brenda) McCarty, Tracey (Clarke) McCabe, John (Jill) McCarty III, Jan (Bryson) Ezell, Michelle (Chuck) Decker, Jamie (Bob) Johnson, Pleasant McCarty, and Ragen McCarty; her great-grandchildren: Katie, Kellsee, Hayley, Braden, Robbie, Sammy, Maddy, Caiden, Alex, Colin, Megan, Keller, Brooke, Paige, and Peyton; her brother, Clifford (Jean) Howarth; her sister, Sharon Walsh; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, Nov. 3, at 11 a.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may call beginning at 9 a.m. Interment will follow the services at St. Peter's Cemetery, Pilottown Road, Lewes.
