Bin 66 to host new Tower Beach label wine tasting Aug. 2

July 26, 2024

To launch its new Tower Beach pinot noir and sauvignon blanc wines, Bin 66 will host a free in-store tasting event from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 2, at 20729 Coastal Hwy., Rehoboth Beach.

Bin 66 owners Riley Quinn and Derrick Kelley have spent nearly 10 months working to bring the much-loved beach wines back to Rehoboth, reviving a tradition first established 18 years ago by previous Bin 66 owners, Tom Poor and Tom Bachmann.

During a trip to the Willamette Valley in Oregon, Quinn visited Hyland Estates vineyard in the town of Newberg, where she met Anne Sery, director of winemaking, a French native with years of experience in Burgundy and a passion for Willamette Valley pinot noir. Knowing the Bin 66 history and the locally designed beach labels that the Toms had released years before, Quinn and Kelley decided to relaunch a Bin 66 private label, in their own style, with guidance from the expert team at Hyland Estates.

The Tower Beach wines are a thoughtfully selected pinot noir and sauvignon blanc from the Willamette Valley. To create the label, Quinn called on two friends who are professional artists and graphic designers. Andrew Lee, a Sussex County native, focused on the iconic observation towers that dot the Delaware coastline. Brittany Valencia, also a Delaware native and designer of the current Bin 66 logo, infused the imaging with her personal style and assisted with final touches necessary before printing. The Tower Beach wine label showcases the towers behind a silhouette of a dog on the beach against a setting sun. For Quinn, Kelley and their beloved rescue pups, many an evening has ended watching the sun set on the beach.
