A birthday celebration touring Alaska by land and sea with the Cape Gazette

September 7, 2018

The Dressel (Rick, Ruth Ann) and Ripanti (Anthony, Stephanie, Ava, Grayden) clans did 12 days in Alaska to celebrate Rick and Ruth’s 65th birthdays. Traveling by plane, helicopter, train, bus, cruise ship, automobile, Uber, golf-boards, ATV and feet, they saw Denali, eagles, bears, moose, sheep, caribou, reindeer, otters, beavers, seals and whales. The family trip also included riding a sled pulled by Iditarod huskies and holding their 6-week-old puppies. Traveling by helicopter, they visited Meade glacier where they read their Cape Gazette, walked the ice and drank the melting water. “We also watched the midnight sun never set, ate reindeer sausage and spun the globe on the Noordam to determine our next trip,” said Rick. “Fiji or maybe even Japan to watch a nephew win more Olympic swimming gold.”
