Brandywine Valley SPCA received a flight of 44 dogs Aug. 25 from three Louisiana shelters affected by Hurricane Laura.
The dogs arrived at Delaware Coastal Airport in the afternoon, and they were taken to Brandywine Valley SPCA’s Animal Rescue Center near Georgetown for checkups before being put up for adoption. Brandywine Valley spokeswoman Linda Torelli said a second flight was received Aug. 26 at New Castle Airport with an additional 35 dogs.
