The Cape Henlopen school board recognized Milton Elementary multi-language teacher Kelley Burton and substitute Donna Gabella at its monthly meeting Jan. 26.

Board member Jessica Tyndall, who represents the Milton area, said Burton is a mentor who assists the school’s multi-language learners academically and ensures they are socially and emotionally supported.

Burton also provides resources to teachers to help them best educate their students, Tyndall said.

For the past two years, Gabella has taken on many roles at Milton Elementary, Tyndall said. She has served as a long-term substitute and also works one-on-one with students who need extra help.

Superintendent Bob Fulton said the district is fortunate to have dedicated teachers and substitutes, particularly during the last two years.

“The impact it has on kids is limitless,” Fulton said.

Each month, the district recognizes employees at one school building for their outstanding work. Employees receive a certificate and gift card courtesy of the Cape Henlopen Educational Foundation.
