Cape boys’ lax edged by nationally ranked Radnor

April 3, 2026

Four Cape seniors hit the twine in the 6-4 boys’ lacrosse loss to Radnor High School of Pennsylvania April 2, at Champions Stadium.

Braddock Smith, Ryan Morgan, Brenner Short and Grant Conway each tallied a goal in the back-and-forth battle.

Cape took a 4-3 lead with six minutes left in the third quarter, but the Raptors scored in the last eight seconds of the quarter to tie the game. Radnor scored twice late to garner the win.

“It was a tough team that tested us really well,” said Morgan. “I thought it showed us what we still need to work on for future games. I thought it was a fun game to be part of.”

Cape goalie Mason Trench stopped 10 shots.

“It was a hard-fought, defensive battle,” said Trench. “I think the team gave a good effort, and moving forward, we can learn a lot from this game.”

“It was really a great opportunity for us to play a top team like Radnor, especially this early in our season,” said Smith. “It was a back-and-forth game. Our defense really kept us in there. More big opportunities ahead.”

Earlier in the week, the Vikings topped the Bullis School 8-7 at Washington College. Conway scored four times, while Smith hit for two. Carter Nemcic and Channing Smith scored once.

“This was a great week for us heading into spring break,” said coach Geoff Shupard. “Radnor is a good team. We would have liked to get the win, but I couldn’t be more proud of how hard the boys played. Our defense played well and the offense moved the ball efficiently, so there are a lot of positives to take away and build on moving forward.”

Short assisted on two goals, while Morgan, Patrick Healy and Channing Smith each had one.

Trench was credited with 14 saves.

The Vikings return to Legends Stadium to face Polytech Wednesday, April 15.
