Cape Class of ‘88 holds reunion
The Cape Henlopen Class of 1988 held its 30th reunion Nov. 24 at the Rusty Rudder in Dewey Beach. Nearly 60 graduates and 35 guests from Milton, Lewes and Rehoboth danced to the music of classmate Rick Arzt and drummer Paul Voshell from Love Seed Mama Jump, and DeeJay Hector (Ortiz) for four hours of belly laughs, giggles and smiles. Food and cocktails were served throughout the evening. The 1988 classmates that are no longer with them were remembered with the poem “The Empty Chair” placed on an empty chair near the dance floor. Class President Ed Lavelle gave a speech that thanked the people who donated for raffles baskets. The 1988 class raised $688 at the event, and all proceeds will go to students in need in the Cape Henlopen School District.
“This was a reunion with a purpose,” said Class of 1988’s Tracy Burton Zigman. “All proceeds go to Cape families that need money for lunches or other needs.”
Businesses that donated to the event were La Vida spots (Crooked Hammock, Fork & Flask, Big Chill), Grotto Pizza, Big Fish Grill, Conch Island Key West Bar and Grill, Conch Island Liquors, Rehoboth Yoga, Mispillion River Brewery, Dairy Queen (Lewes), Rusty Rudder Restaurant, Elite Nails and CK's Salon & Spa.
