Cape Henlopen center invites local seniors to virtual programs

December 16, 2020

The Cape Henlopen Senior Center in Rehoboth Beach invites local seniors to participate in its virtual programs and events. Community members do not have to be members of the senior center to take part in these free classes and programs.

The center team members know that many seniors are experiencing stress, anxiety and loneliness during the ongoing pandemic, and they want to help. Using the internet and Zoom, the center is offering some virtual exercise classes and programs that people can take part in from the comfort and safety of home.

Here is a sample: Sit and get fit is offered from 9 to 10 a.m., Mondays, and beginner line dancing starts at 11 a.m.

Arthritis exercise starts at 9 a.m., Wednesdays, and Bingo fun goes from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. To get a Bingo sheet, call the center.

Gentle yoga is offered at 9 a.m. and chair yoga starts at 1 p.m., Thursdays, and Tai Chi is offered at 11 a.m., Fridays.

Internet access is required for participation. To get login information for virtual programs, call the center at 302-227-2055 between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., Monday, Wednesday or Friday.

For members only, the center is providing transportation services. For those who do not drive and live within a five-mile radius of the center, transportation will be provided to local stores in the Rehoboth and Lewes areas during hours of operation. This service is also available for routine medical appointments.

For more information on membership, call the center or stop by to pick up information at 11 Christian St. in Rehoboth Beach. Masks are required in the center. For membership information online, go to capehenlopenseniorcenter.org.
