Cape High giving trees brighten school rotunda

Students personalize trees to donate to local families; some still available
December 15, 2021

Inside the Cape High rotunda, visitors are greeted by a line of trees trimmed for the holiday in a variety of themes.

In what has become a December tradition, Cape High athletic teams, clubs and classrooms have decorated and personalized trees with purchased, hand-painted and paper ornaments. Each tree and all of its decorations will be available for pickup or delivery to families in need just before Christmas.

Many trees are still available for donation, said Principal Nikki Miller, who asked anyone in need of a tree to contact her at the office by calling 302-645-7711 to request one.

In the spirit of competition, classrooms and hallways are also brightened with decorations spreading holiday cheer. Each student’s advisory class spent time transforming their areas into holiday themes.

Knowing that the holiday season isn’t always happy for all, Miller said the softball team also raised money to purchase meals for students and families in need.
