The No. 7 Cape unified basketball squad advanced to the quarterfinal round of the state tournament Feb. 27, with a 40-33 victory over a tough and talented Seaford team. The Vikings travel to No. 2 Indian River Thursday, March 2. Game time is 4 p.m.

Zane Richardson kept his three streak alive, sinking three from behind the line in the game. Kayden Gibbs hit four deuces.

“Dedication and hard work paid off,” said Cape coach Jenn Hagan. “This team is unique and deserves the recognition for being positive and caring. They take care of each other on and off the court. The relationships that have been formed between partners and athletes is heartwarming. It’s bigger than the game.”
