Cape unified football falls to Eagles on Senior Night

On a day that was much more suitable for ducks, the Smyrna Eagles unified flag football team grounded the Vikings 60-33 on Cape’s Senior Night Nov. 2. 

The Eagles struck first on a safety when the ball was downed in the end zone eight minutes into the game. They scored a touchdown with eight seconds left in the first quarter. The Vikings scored with seven minutes left in the first half and again with five minutes left.

The second half had the Eagles flying high, outscoring the Vikings 35-19 to garner the victory. The Vikings move to 0-3, while the Eagles are 3-0.

Even though the weather was cold and wet, fans filled the stands and cheered loudly for the talented athletes on the Legends Stadium turf.

“I thought we did a good job in the cold and rainy conditions,” said Cape quarterback Josh Reinhold. “I am am happy everyone contributed and had a good time, especially the seniors on Senior Night.”

Cape will finish the regular season Tuesday, Nov. 9, at Dover, while the Eagles host Caesar Rodney.
