Celebrating excellence in phlebotomy at Beebe

February 14, 2023

During the month of December, Beebe Healthcare was chosen as the beneficiary of the Schell Brothers Project Kudos initiative. Via this program, every “kudo” posted on Facebook raised $1 for Beebe. The community partnered with Beebe team members in a big way to give, comment, share and like the posted kudos. The entire effort was an incredible, communal success for Beebe, raising more than $52,000.

One wonderful kudos comment from the community during this time came from Milton resident Lee Revis-Plank. On Facebook, she wrote directly to Beebe Healthcare President & CEO David Tam to say, “Dr. Tam, I’d like to send kudos to the Milton Lab phlebotomist, Emma Williams. She is truly a gem … drawing blood can be a challenge, and doing so quickly, efficiently and with barely a pinch is the sign of an expert! We are blessed to have her on staff!”

I was aware of Lee’s comment at the time and thought what a special person she must be to have taken the time to acknowledge Emma in her role as a phlebotomist. I was even more delighted when I learned that Phlebotomist Recognition Week for 2023 is this week, Feb. 13-17.

Following up on Lee’s lead, Celebrate Excellent Care is celebrating Emma and all phlebotomists during this week. These under-celebrated providers of excellent care throughout the Beebe Healthcare system touch each and every one of our patients, and I’m delighted to acknowledge them all with this article.

Lee, thank you for being willing to put your gratitude into writing. Emma, and all phlebotomists in the Beebe Healthcare system, thank you for all that you do every day.

I’m proud to stand alongside community members that openly demonstrate how Sussex County supports Beebe, and proud of everyone in the Beebe Healthcare system who delivers excellent care to Beebe patients and their families every day of the year.

As a community-based, not-for-profit healthcare system, Beebe Healthcare depends on the generous support of the community it serves.
