Children’s Beach House barbecue a huge success
There are so many people to thank for making the Children’s Beach House’s Back to the ’80s beach barbecue such an enormous success. From the record number of sponsors who provided such a strong base of support to the generous donors of auction items, the artists who made and donated one-of-a-kind surfboards, the volunteers who decorated the Beach House, and those who staffed the event. Additionally, the fantastic community members who purchased tickets. Last, but not least, many thanks to the amazing event committee who made it all happen. The tremendous culmination of each of these individual efforts resulted in Children’s Beach House raising more than $100,000 to support its programs – another record-breaking number for a CBH event.
These funds will be essential to Children’s Beach House’s work with children in two vital programs. The first is the Margaret H. Rollins Child Development Center, a pre-school that provides children with speech and language delays a language-rich environment alongside typically developing peers. Together, they develop the skills they’ll need for success in kindergarten and elementary school – and have lots of fun along the way.
The second program is CBH’s Youth Development Program. This program offers year-round one-on-one family support from dedicated staff that aim to create a network of resources around each child, as well as peer bonding at summer camp and over select weekends throughout the school year. Kids from under-resourced homes or experiencing speech and language challenges are provided positive adult role models, opportunities to form long-term friendships, resources to develop natural skills and talents, and the confidence and support they need to avoid risky behaviors and stay in school until graduation.
We are so grateful to everyone who supported the beach barbecue and for making Back to the ’80s so fun and so successful!
Looking forward to next year!
