Avoiding Probate free webinar set Jan. 24

Delaware Money School will host Avoiding Probate, a free webinar, from 5 to 6 p.m., Monday, Jan. 24. Deirdre O’Shea McCartney, Esq. will facilitate the program. The Georgetown library, at 123 West Pine St., Georgetown, is available for attendees to view the live stream.

The class covers avoiding probate, how to make the transition of property occur seamlessly at the time of death, without opening an estate. Having written, spoken and taught on the subject many times, the presenter breaks down what appears to be a complex subject, to simple understandable layman’s terms. This class focuses only on steps the lay person can take so assets transfer at death, to the intended beneficiaries by operation of law, immediately and automatically. Those who have served as a personal representative or executor of an estate know first-hand how complex, expensive and time-consuming the probate process can be.

Everyone should have a will prepared with a competent attorney. This class teaches how to prepare an estate in such a manner that the entire probate process can be avoided and the will never comes into play.

Advance registration is required at dfli.org

Vision board workshops for single moms continue Jan. 26

NCALL will host a vision board party as a part of its A New Vision - Financial Empowerment Workshops for Single Moms. Participants can select to attend this party either virtually or in a hybrid setting; 12 spots are available for the in-person session, so register now.

People’s visions for 2022 may include financial freedom, home ownership, a new job, travel and more.

Sometimes all a single mother needs is a little encouragement to achieve her dreams, and that is what NCALL plans to provide to single moms in Delaware.

Supported in part by the Fund for Women through the Delaware Community Foundation, this interactive program will give practical tools, resources, and a solid foundation to single mothers as they strive to reach their financial goals.

A vision board is a collage of images and words representing a person's wishes or goals, intended to serve as inspiration or motivation.

NCALL will host a virtual vision board workshop from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 26. Hybrid workshops will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 3 p.m., online and in person at the NCALL office, 363 Saulsbury Road, Dover.
