County Bank donates $2K for Lewes playground

April 22, 2019

County Bank donated $2,000 to the City of Lewes Parks & Recreation to help build phase 1 of the new playground at George H.P. Smith Park.

Replacing wooden structures in poor condition, the new playground structure is intended for children up to 12 years old. It features two slides, several areas to climb and a tunnel. There will be an ADA-accessible platform, said Lewes Parks and Marina Administrator Alison Kirk, and there are plans to add a ramp to get into the playground area.

Bids for new playground equipment came in higher than expected, and Kirk is seeking the public’s help to raise the remaining funds.

Anyone interested in donating is asked to send a check payable to City of Lewes to: Attn: Alison Kirk, P.O. Box 227, Lewes, DE 19958. All donations are tax-deductible.
