Cuvée Ray now open in Rehoboth Beach

170 different selections of wine
July 27, 2018

Cuvée Ray in Rehoboth Beach is now open. Ray Kurz, who owns the restaurant with his wife, Debbie, said, "We're excited to show off our renovated space, extensive wine collection and our exquisite cuisine."

The contemporary space includes a dining room in the bar area with a fireplace. There is also an intimate patio for al fresco dining. A spacious corridor with an artistic wine rack and a view of the open kitchen leads to a second dining room. This section is also home to a private dining room for 12. Located behind a glass wall, the room features an attractive display of about 1,000 bottles of wine.

In all, there are 1,300 bottles of wine and about 170 different selections. While every wine is available by the glass, the menu highlights 35 to help diners narrow their choices, Kurz said.

Chef Joe Churchman has crafted a menu that complements the wine list. Diners may consider vanilla-cured seared scallops with shaved fennel, poached carrots, rosemary and espelette pepper; pappardelle with pork ragu, corn puree and herb salad; and lavender duck with wheat berries, braised greens, turnips and a confit of oyster mushrooms.

In the front dining room, there is a niche for musicians and their instruments. Sydney Arzt, who once owned Sydney's Jazz & Blues Restaurant in the same space, is booking the live entertainment which will cover rock, soul and jazz. Cuvée Ray will feature music during happy hour Thursday, Friday night and during the restaurant's Jazz Brunch every Sunday.

General Manager Chris Racine says opening the restaurant has been a labor of love on a work of art. The restaurant takes reservations. For more information, call 302-567-2942 or go to www.cuveeray.com.
