Daniel V. Hensel, proud veteran

Daniel V. Hensel, 74, of Selbyville passed away Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021, at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.  His loving daughter and son-in-law were by his side. He was born Nov. 25, 1946, in Paterson, N.J., son of the late Victor and Erma Hensel.

Daniel was a proud veteran, having honorably served as a ranger in the U.S. Army Infantry during the Vietnam War.  He was a former member of the First Reformed Church of Hawthorne, N.J., Ocean Reformed Church (now Ocean Community Church) in Manahawkin, N.J., and Grace of God Lutheran Church in Long Neck.  He was also a member of the Mariners Lodge, F&AM, in Barnegat, N.J.  Above all, Daniel cherished time spent with his beloved family.  He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Daniel is survived by his daughter, Dawn Hoesten (William); his sons: Victor Hensel (Melanie) and Daniel Hensel; his grandchildren: Stacie Hensel, Terese Villegas, Bradford Hoesten and Timothy Hoesten; his former wife of 42 years, Terese Hensel; his sister, Dianne Zickella; and his many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service and formal burial will be scheduled for July 2021.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Daniel’s memory to Shriners Hospital for Children, 3551 North Broad St., Philadelphia, PA 19140.
