DAR sponsors online Ancestry access for library patrons

The Daughters of the American Revolution Col. David Hall Chapter of Lewes has sponsored a digital subscription to Ancestry for the Lewes Public Library to aid patrons in genealogical research.
Ancestry is the world’s largest online family history resource. It brings together billions of historical records, millions of family trees, and millions of family researchers for users to build a family tree, find new ancestors and share discoveries with families.
Patrons may utilize Ancestry on Lewes library computers through a dedicated library-based portal. Login instructions are available at the computer bank and at the front desk. A library card is not required for access.
“DAR is a volunteer service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history and securing America’s future through education,” said Mary Alice Kelly, librarian for the DAR Col. David Hall Chapter. “There is value in knowing one’s own family history, and we wanted to bring the opportunity for residents to do free genealogical research. A DAR-sponsored quarterly speaker series will be announced soon along with training sessions to learn how to use the Ancestry platform.”
Computer access is available during the library’s regular business hours, 10 a.m. to 7:45 p.m., Monday to Thursday; 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., Friday; and 10 a.m. to 1:45 p.m., Saturday, at 111 Adams Ave., Lewes.
