David Mosner, fire chief
David Mosner, 75, of Lewes, passed away peacefully at his residence Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011, with family by his side. He was born in Nyack, N.Y., Jan. 3, 1936, son of the late Warren and Natalie (Romyns) Mosner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Mosner.
Mr. Mosner was an Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict both stateside and in Hawaii. While living in New Jersey, he worked for 20 years for Eastern Propane Company in Oakridge and then for five years as a road supervisor in Andover Township. He previously served as fire chief of the Andover Township Fire Company and also served on many other boards in that community. After retiring, he and his wife, Betty moved to Lewes 20 years ago. He enjoyed many outdoor activities such as woodworking, boating, fishing and hunting and was also very involved in the Hills Edge Neighborhood Association.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Betty J. (Arnott) Mosner of Lewes; two sons: David C. Mosner and his wife Elise and Rod Mosner and his wife Donna all of Andover; four granddaughters: Erica , Ashley , Paige and Lauren Mosner, all of Andover; one grandson, Kyle Pawl Mosner of Andover; one brother, Warren Mosner Jr. of Milford; and one sister, Carol Youngman of Newton, N.J.
Visitation and services will be private.
