DBP hosts annual Dewey Beach Egg Scoop to celebrate Easter

Families take part in unique Easter experience on the beach
April 18, 2018

The 7th Annual Dewey Beach Egg Scoop was held March 31 to celebrate the Easter Holiday. This event, put together and carried out by the Dewey Business Partnership, drew children and families from all over the Eastern Shore. This free celebration not only had egg hunts for the children and adults, but also carnival games and a chance to get a photo taken with the Easter Bunny himself!

The event took place on the beach off Dagsworthy Street. An area of the beach was transformed into an Easter-themed “eggstravaganza.” This occasion consisted of three different egg hunts for different age groups, as well as an adult egg hunt. Children waited patiently with their families eager to enter the sectioned off area and collect their eggs filled with small toys and candy. Each group was allowed on the designated egg hunting zone and collected their eggs focusing on safety and having fun.

While the egg hunts were taking place, attendees took advantage of this beautiful day and engaged in the various activities. Children and parents also were able to meet with the Easter Bunny and capture some great Easter moments. It was clear that not only the children were having a blast, but the parents as well. Having an opportunity to take place in an Easter event on the beach is a unique and special experience.

“These types of events are so good for the community as they bring people together in family friendly events. We take pride in our various events throughout the year and could not do it without the support of the residents of Dewey, our businesses, and all of our volunteers. We are proud to be able to provide these sorts of things to the community and continue to add to the charm of this unique town,” said Executive Director Kelly Ranieri of the Dewey Business Partnership.

Following the egg hunt for the children, parents had a chance to go hunting for a prize themselves. Throughout the event, adults had the opportunity to enter a 50/50 raffle which half of the money collected would be awarded to the winner of the adult egg hunt.
