Delaware Watercolor Society seeks entries for exhibit to open April 3 at Lewes library

March 10, 2018

The Delaware Watercolor Society is a nonprofit organization in Rehoboth Beach focused on exploring, creating, and sharing the wonders of watercolor and aqueous media with new, emerging and professional artists from Delaware, New Jersey, Maryland, Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania and Virginia. DWS is calling for entries from member and nonmember watercolor and aqueous-media artists interested in submitting artwork for its upcoming fine art exhibition at the Lewes Public Library, 111 Adams Ave., Lewes.

Artists may submit up to two original works created within the past three years in any water-based media except water-based oils. Paintings previously shown in DWS juried exhibitions are ineligible. Entries for this exhibition must be preregistered by calling the exhibitions director at the number listed on the prospectus. The preregistered artwork is to be delivered to the Lewes Public Library gallery from 10 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, April 3.

This is an open show, and DWS judges will award both monetary and non-monetary awards. Monetary awards will total $550 for first, second and third place. There will be two merit awards. Three honorable mention non-monetary awards will be given to those whose paintings demonstrate artistic value deserving acknowledgement.

The exhibition is open to the public and will be on display in the Lewes library gallery until Monday, April 30. An opening reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, April 6, at the library.
