Delmarva Christian soccer ties Worcester 2-2

Royals fall in OT to Mallards in ESIAC Tournament

The Delmarva Christian soccer squad and Worcester Prep played to a regular-season 2-2 tie Oct. 21, but the Royals dropped the rematch 1-2 in OT of the Semi-final of the ESIAC Tournament Wednesday Oct. 23 at home.

First game goal scorers were Gabe Herling and Layton Rush for the Royals and Alec Burbage and Ryan Cronin for the Mallards. Semi-final scorers were Gabe Herling for Delmarva Christian and Anderssen Taylor and Ryan Cronin in overtime for Worcester Prep.

The 8-5-1 Royals will host Smyrna Tuesday, Oct. 29, for the team’s Senior Day.

Dan has worked for the Cape Gazette for more than 30 years as a photographer and reporter, covering high school sports and happenings around eastern Sussex County. He won a photography award from the National Newspaper Association, and numerous awards from the Maryland, Delaware, D.C. Press Association. A Delaware native, Dan graduated from Cape in 1972 and returned as a teacher and coach in the 1980s. He retired from the classroom in 2016. He was inducted into Cape High’s Legends Stadium in 2016. In his spare time, Dan enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons, grandchildren and dogs.
