Delmarva Rush Nero 2014 wins Hempfield Fall Classic
The Delmarva Rush Nero 2014 team won the 38th annual Hempfield Fall Classic held Nov. 18-19 in Lancaster, Pa. The tournament welcomed teams from across the region.
Delmarva Nero faced a formidable opponent in PA Classics Premier in the first game of the tournament Nov. 18, emerging victorious with a 2-1 scoreline. Ben Kuns played a pivotal role, netting two goals for the team. In the second match of the day, Delmarva Nero secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over the Olmsted Guardians. The goals were scored by Aaron Morin, Beckett Crawford and Gordon Deptula.
Delmarva Nero continued its winning streak Nov. 19, with a commanding 4-1 victory over Phoenixville ASC. Morin contributed with two goals, while Liam Meluso and Kia Kass each scored one. Nero was led by fantastic defensive performances from Ryan Mariani, Lennon Marshall, Matthew Fragoso, Grayson Graviet and goalkeeper Colton Kroll.
In the championship game Nov. 19, Delmarva Nero faced off against East Penn Fire from East Penn Soccer Club. In an impressive display of skill, Delmarva Nero secured the title with a 3-1 victory. Deptula tallied two goals, while Morin added another.
The coaching staff of Jeremy Hurd and Bryan Deptula commended the players for their commitment, resilience and teamwork that culminated in the championship. The coaches emphasized the importance of discipline, skill development and the collective effort that propelled Delmarva Nero to the pinnacle of success.
