Devil Daves medals at international Bloody Mary competition

March 23, 2023

Ryan Pakenas, founder of Devil Daves, was recently honored with two gold medals at the 6th annual Drunken Tomato Awards that took place in California in mid-January.

The Rehoboth Beach-based company holds claim to creating the first Bloody Mary stick pack on the market, and it has a retail store devoted to all things Bloody Mary including pickles, mixes, spices and hot sauces.

With a gold medal secured in 2020, these are Devil Daves’ second- and third-time wins. This year, Devil Daves’ Diablo Bloody Mary seasoning and new hot sauce, DillyPepper, took home the gold in separate categories. The blind tasting event featured 75 entries tested by celebrity judges with unbiased feedback.

“My team's dedication and hard work were the keys to achieving this incredible victory, and I'm so grateful for their unwavering commitment to producing a high-quality end product. The hot sauce has been a great addition. Special thanks to Delaware Sauce Company for personalizing this recipe to fit my brand perfectly,” said Pakenas. “Working with other local producers is a blessing, and we are glad to be accepted as a partner.”

The Drunken Tomato Awards is an international Bloody Mary competition that rewards the hard work and passion of industry manufacturers who produce superior products.
