Dewey Beach center island landscaping continues

May 13, 2025

Denison Landscaping is in the midst of working on the center island of Coastal Highway running through Dewey Beach.

The company is putting down mulch, and planting flowers and shrubs, as well as weeding once everything is planted.

The landscaping surrounds the new posts and ropes that were installed on the highway’s center island to prevent folks from jaywalking.

According to Dewey Beach Town Manager Bill Zolper, the landscaping project is estimated to be completed by Thursday, May 15, pending weather.

The town is also painting new crosswalk markings and lowering the yellow crosswalk beacons on the center island to make them more visible to drivers. Also, another crosswalk sign was added at the intersection of King Charles Avenue and Carolina Street.
