Dewey Beach Civic League holds candidates’ forum

The Dewey Beach Civic League held a candidates’ forum Aug. 23 for residents to get to know the town commissioners and ask questions.
The forum was scheduled to take place ahead of the town’s nonpartisan municipal election in September. However, for the fifth year in a row, the election was canceled, as the three incumbents — commissioners Elisabeth Gibbings, David Jasinski and Paul Bauer — were the only candidates who filed to run for the three open seats.
Many Dewey residents still attended the forum to ask questions and learn more about the commissioners’ stances on various issues. Also present were Mayor Bill Stevens, Commissioner Gary Persinger, Town Manager Bill Zolper and Police Chief Constance Speake.
DBCL President Diane Hanson was the moderator.
