The Dewey Beer Co. is building a merchandise stand located in its parking lot immediately south of the restaurant.
The restaurant, 2100 Coastal Highway in Dewey Beach, will not lose any parking because of the new building. Partner Clint Bunting said the new structure is on an unused strip of pavement between a fire hydrant and the restaurant.
“We’re covering up our ugly parking lot,” he said.
When completed, the shed will match the restaurant's coastal industrial feel, including siding from an old Amish barn in Pennsylvania, metal light fixtures and other stainless steel components.
Dewey Beer Co. opened its doors in early June and features a custom-made, stainless steel 7-barrel brewing system. The system includes five refrigerator-sized brite tanks, a hot liquor tank, a 15-barrel fermenter and three 7-barrel fermenters.
The restaurant will be celebrating Octoberfest with a special, under-tent event in the parking lot. Town council voted to give its approval of the event during its Aug. 14 meeting, but call the Dewey Beer Co. at 302-227-1182 for the date and time.
