Disappointing end but not a total surprise

January 19, 2022

Unfortunately, on Sunday, the Philadelphia Eagles got hammered by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by the score of 31-15, and it wasn’t even that close. It was like the whole Eagles team was intimidated by the fact that they were playing in the playoffs. No one showed up! I have been annoyed for the whole season at the defense for not being aggressive at all. I would not be disappointed if they had a different defensive coordinator next year. The defensive line has got to be younger and faster. On the offensive side of the ball, I was surprised they did not try to utilize one of our best players, Devonta Smith, more in the first half of the game when the score was still manageable.

It was clear that Jalen Hurts was injured more than they said he was. I was surprised to see him using a walking boot after the game. He did not take many big hits during the game, so he had to have been injured before the game.

But it's all hindsight now. It was still a much more successful season for the team than we all thought it would be. I look forward to next year.

I will now be rooting for the Buffalo Bills to win the Super Bowl because they’re one of the only teams who has not won one in their history even though they have been so close so many times. Their quarterback, Josh Allen, is much fun to watch and is quite capable of carrying his team to the Super Bowl. I believe he is just as talented as Patrick Mahomes is for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Moving on. Unfortunately, right now it is only a two-horse race for the championship in Premier League soccer. Manchester City and Liverpool Football Club are just over halfway through the 38-game season. Manchester City has a 13-point lead at the top of the table. Liverpool is in second place. I hope Liverpool can make up some ground fast to make the race interesting by May. I don’t know why the Premier League does not have a U.S.-style playoff system to give more of the teams a chance to win the championship. If they add a few more playoff games, the owners can make even more profits from the extra televised games.

I'm rambling at this point. Have a good weekend.
