DLLG leaders attend National League of Cities gathering in Washington, DC

May 30, 2025

About 60 municipal league executive directors from across the United States and their executive board members gathered May 21 and 22, in Washington, D.C., for a fly-in event hosted by the National League of Cities.

The yearly gathering promotes dialogue between states and the federal government, and this year, the directors heard from a half-dozen executives from President Donald Trump’s intergovernmental agency about such topics as grants from Housing & Urban Development and Federal Emergency Management Agency, in addition to other federal agency initiatives and the president’s signed executive orders.

Representing the Delaware League of Local Governments are (second row, far left) DLLG Executive Director Dr. Kevin J. Spence and (third row center) Clayton mayor and DLLG President Nick Smith.
