Donna Gail Brown, loved her family, animals
Donna Gail Brown, 62, of Lewes, returned home to be with the Lord Friday, May 30, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.
Born Dec. 26, 1962, in Pasadena, Md., to Iva and Howard Kelly, Donna was a woman whose life was rooted in love for her family, nature, and all living creatures. She was the heart of her home and a fierce supporter of those she loved. She proudly stood by her husband, Mark, through 36 years of marriage, cheering him on in his love of fishing and faithfully attending every one of her son’s sporting events, even the ones she didn’t particularly enjoy (she was quite relieved when baseball ended!).
Donna had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and a gift for nurturing all living things. As a wildlife rehabber, she spent years caring for injured animals with gentle hands and a tender heart. She had a lifelong love of animals and cherished every pet that graced her home, even the creepy crawly ones her son, Marshall, was determined to keep. Her garden was a source of pride, especially her roses, which she tended with the same devotion she gave to everything in her life.
She was also a remarkable cook, known for her elaborate meals and desserts, always made with love and her signature touch. In 62 years, Donna never made a bad meal, and her family will swear by that.
Donna’s love of Elvis Presley was legendary. From seeing him live in concert to collecting memorabilia and enjoying every impersonator she could find, Elvis was the soundtrack of her life, and those who knew her will always think of her when they hear his voice.
Donna is survived by her beloved husband, Mark Brown, whom she met at Hammerjacks in Baltimore and with whom she built a beautiful life. She also leaves behind her son, Marshall Brown (wife Paige Robinson), her pride and joy, to whom she passed down a deep love for animals and an endless curiosity about the world. She had a special bond with her niece, Erin Moran (husband Zach), and adored their children, Rowan and Zander, with whom she made many cherished memories. She is also survived by her brother, Joe Kelly, whom she loved dearly.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Iva and Howard Kelly; and her brother, Butch. There is no doubt they are sharing a joyful reunion in heaven.
To honor Donna’s memory, we invite you to blast some Elvis, share a home-cooked meal with your family, and always, always be kind to animals.
