Donors can give the gift of energy bill assistance

December 5, 2021

Delmarva Power offers community members the opportunity give back locally through its energy assistance programs.

The holiday season can be difficult for many people, as they continue to face financial hardships due to the COVID-19 pandemic, experience challenges meeting their basic needs, and may be separated from loved ones. These Delmarva Power programs provide meaningful support for Delaware and Maryland families and individuals who need support paying their energy bill.

Through the Good Neighbor Energy Fund, customers can donate to local organizations that provide payment assistance to low-income customers who may be facing hardships, including the Salvation Army in Delaware. Donated funds are disbursed to qualified recipients. Delmarva Power matches $1 for every $3 received, up to $70,000 annually.

All that is needed to successfully make a payment on behalf of someone else is the customer’s name and address or phone number associated with the account. The gift will appear on the recipient’s future energy bill as a credit. Those interested in making a purchase can do so at delmarva.com/gift or by calling 800-375-7117.

Customers can also contribute to the Gift of Energy Fund directly through their Delmarva Power bill by paying exactly $1 over their bill amount. Amounts over $1 will not be recognized as a contribution and will result in a credit to the customer’s account. Customers can make a $1 contribution each time they pay their Delmarva Power bill.
