Doris Fay Wilkins, loved the Lord, family
Doris Fay Wilkins passed away Sunday, Aug. 24, 2025, in Georgetown.
Doris was the daughter of the late Joseph C. Gordon and Alice Hitchens Gordon of Georgetown. She is preceded in death by her sisters, Jeannette Hudson and Joan Williams; and her brother Joseph Gordon.
Doris is survived by her husband, Wayne G. Wilkins; son, Daniel W. Wilkins and his wife Joanne; granddaughter, Kristin Wilkins Firle and husband Jon; grandson, Tyler Wilkins and wife Ashley; four great-grandchildren, Jarret Wilkins, Emma Wilkins, Gage Wilkins and Lacie Wilkins; her brother, Harry Gordon and wife Pat; and her sister-in-law, Gloria Gordon (wife of Joe).
Doris started her career at the law firm of Tunnel and Raysor in Georgetown and worked there for 16 years. Later, she accepted the position as the clerk of the court at the Court of Common Pleas as office manager, where she worked for 31 years, from 1974 to 2005. After retirement, Doris was asked to return part time and did so for nine more years.
Doris loved all kinds of flowers, as evidenced by her many flower gardens in her yard at home in Georgetown. She also loved to watch and feed the birds.
Doris started attending Church at an early age at Georgetown Wesleyan Church, and during her lifetime, she and Wayne not only attended the Wesleyan Church, but also Asbury Methodist Church and Georgetown Drive-in Church at Sandhill Fields.
Doris and Wayne had a special love for each other as they began dating in high school and were married for 68 years.
First, she loved Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She loved her husband, Wayne; her son, Danny and his wife Joanne; her grandchildren, Kristin and Jon, Tyler, and Ashley. She had a special love for her great-grandchildren, Jarret, Emma, Gage and Lacie; her brother, Harry and his wife Pat; and her special friends.
Services, officiated by Pastor Tim Wilson, will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at Short Funeral Services chapel, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. for visitation.
As Doris loved her flowers, they will be accepted, or donations may be made in her name to Asbury Methodist Church in Georgetown, Water’s Edge Church in Milton, or Georgetown Drive-In Church at Sandhill Fields in Georgetown.
