After months of renovations, Downtown Blues in Rehoboth Beach is set to open Monday, June 19.
Located on North First Street, Downtown Blues is the newest eatery in the Bethany Blues group of restaurants, joining locations already in downtown Bethany Beach and on Route 1 outside Lewes.
As of press deadline June 14, a few punch list items remained to be finished – hanging televisions and wallpaper, assembling a few tables, last-minute things in the kitchen – but for the most part it’s ready to go. There will be 103 dining seats and eight bar seats.
The opening of Downtown Blues will mark the first time in 50 years the property has been something other than a pizza joint. The restaurant was home to the original Nicola Pizza, which moved to Route 1 outside Lewes this past fall. A version of Nicola’s booths at the front windows remain, but that’s about the only thing similar to how it looked before the renovation.
According to a permit of compliance application submitted to the city this spring, the hours of operation will be 11 a.m. to 1 a.m., Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 1 a.m., Saturday and Sunday.
