Downtown Milford welcomes King’s Homemade Ice Cream

July 7, 2018

Downtown Milford Inc. announced its partnership with King’s Homemade Ice Cream of Milton and Lewes fame. King’s is now operating an ice cream business along the Mispillion River in Downtown Milford as of July 3.

“We’re excited to expand our operation to Milford this summer,” said Rudy Spoor, owner of King’s Homemade Ice Cream. “We’re looking forward to being a part of this community and setting up our shop in the heart of Downtown Milford.”

In May, the DMI Board of Directors had announced their off-season repurpose plan for the Santa House to contract with a local vendor. After hearing concerns from the community, the board decided at their June meeting to forgo the decision to maintain a Santa theme through the summer ice cream season, and to have King’s operate the ice cream shop.

Spoor said King’s is very grateful for the opportunity to serve the Milford community and hopes for a long-term relationship serving local children and their families homemade ice cream.

Featuring 10 flavors, King’s will be open seven days a week through September. Cash, and eventually credit card orders will be taken through the Dutch front door, and tables will be set up outside for all to relax and enjoy their ice cream.

“We’re excited to welcome King’s to to the heart of Downtown Milford,” said Sara Pletcher, DMI board president. “Serving ice cream will bring people downtown, get them into our stores, and give life to Downtown Milford after 5 p.m.”
