E-bikes: it’s the operator, not the bike

November 28, 2023

It has been said over and over again: it is not the e-bike, it is the operator! This holds true for conventional bikes, e-bikes and, frankly, walkers on our beautiful trails. The operator controls the speed. There is nothing more to be said about that fact. I will not be denied the privilege of using our trails to go and see things on our area that I am physically unable to do other than riding my e-bike. I, as well as all of the e-bike riders that I know and see, are courteous and respectful to others also enjoying the trails. If the state would like to propose speed limits that would be fine, but any other restrictions would be discriminatory and very unfair.

Regarding those very, very few folks who have had a bad experience, the culprit was an ignorant fool, and sadly the world is becoming a different more difficult place. That is why e-bike trail riding for me is important for my mental health as well as my physical health.
