Elvina C. Forrest, a spunky mom

March 3, 2021

Elvina C. Forrest, 92, of Lewes passed away peacefully at Beebe Healthcare Monday, March 1, 2021, surrounded by members of her loving family.

Elvina (Scotty) was born April 25, 1928, in Philadelphia, Pa. She was the daughter of Rose (Perri) and Joseph Cirino.

Scotty graduated from P.S. DuPont High School and later became a secretary at DuPont Louviers, working for several engineers. She had the opportunity to proudly test nylon stockings made by DuPont.

She retired from DuPont when she married her late husband, James F. Forrest Sr. They moved to West Covina, Calif., where they lived for 10 years before returning to Delaware. She also worked at Winterthur Museum cafeteria for 15 years where she laughed throughout her work days entertaining her dear coworkers and manager.

In her younger years Scotty could be found tap dancing on stage with her sisters and always enjoyed being the life of the party. She loved celebrating birthdays with her children at The Deer Park in Newark and other festive establishments where she was surrounded by her family and friends.

She enjoyed her youth and always expressed her gratitude to her children for living in the best of times. In their retirement they were fortunate to have traveled across country twice in a camper and saw our country’s most beautiful sites out west. She and Dad escorted Dad’s German class from William Penn High School to Germany on two occasions. Scotty was known to many as the spunky mom who was full of life and always smiled.

Mom will be dearly missed by her five children James F. Forrest Jr., Thomas M. Forrest (Twiggy), Nancy M. Devereux (Jack), Sharon R. Forrest (Nick Edge) and Anthony J. Forrest (Glyn Edwards); 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her 10 siblings.

Her family would like to thank the Beebe Healthcare doctors, nurses and medical staff who cared for her so passionately.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, March 9, at 11:30 a.m., at St John The Beloved Parish at 907 Milltown Road. Internment will follow at All Saints; Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway in Wilmington. COVID-19 restrictions apply, and masks are required.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Jusst Sooup Ministry or your favorite charity.
