Epworth UMC announces new director of music ministry

October 12, 2014

Epworth United Methodist Church has announced that Andrew Monath will assume leadership of Music Ministry in mid-October. In his new position Monath will oversee all of Epworth’s music programming, working closely with the Worship and Music Pathway. He’ll also be directing the Chancel and Bell Choirs and will supervise the work of Epworth’s other hired musicians.

“I’m excited about devoting all of my time to a Reconciling congregation with an excellent music ministry and - of course - to moving to and working at the beach,” Monath said. He also said that working to grow the Chancel Choir will be one of his first priorities.

Monath has served as organist and director of music at Arch Street United Methodist Church in Philadelphia since 2011. He also served as organist/director of music at Asbury United Methodist Church in Norristown, Pa., as well as Messiah United Methodist Church in Lafayette Hill, Pa., and Christ Congregation in Princeton, N.J.

Monath holds a bachelor of music from Westminster Choir College, and a master of arts in education (Music/Theater) from Arcadia University.
