Eric James Lowe, hardworking, generous man

December 18, 2023

Eric James Lowe, 32, of Milton, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2023. He was born March 15, 1991, in Newark, son of William L. and Katharine E. (Smith) Lowe.

Eric graduated from Brandywine High School Class of 2009. He married the love of his life, Lauren, March 23, 2022, and then celebrated their union again with family and friends May 7, 2022. After working for various businesses, he became co-owner of Seagreen Bicycle LLC, an accomplishment that brought him great joy. His entrepreneurial skills were evident in developing the business.

Eric had many different and diverse pastimes and hobbies. He had a love of cooking a variety of cuisines and especially loved grilling, with a unique knack for creating unforgettable recipes; he could often be found in his backyard, setting up a bonfire, where he enjoyed spending time with his wife, family, and friends. He was smart, hardworking, exceptionally generous, loving, witty, thoughtful and determined. Through his friendly and genuine nature, Eric made things look effortless, and he could build a community easily around anything he took joy in. He was fearlessly protective of those he loved, especially his wife and his momma. Eric loved to bring fresh flowers often to the most important women in his life.

Eric's mind was that of an engineer. He enjoyed tinkering in the garage and needed to know how things work. Ever the outdoors enthusiast, Eric enjoyed everything that coastal living had to offer, particularly sailing, and going to the beach with his family. His love of nature never waned, and he often went camping or walked his dogs in the woods. Eric also loved music of all kinds, and playing the guitar and piano. A kind-hearted spirit with a charitable nature, he would lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Eric cherished time spent with his loved ones and was a constant, devoted son, supportive brother, grandson, uncle, devoted husband, hands-on father, musician, and what he loved the most was to make his son laugh. Loved by many, he will be forever missed by all who had the good fortune to know him.

Eric was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Joseph R. Smith Sr.; and his paternal grandparents, Claire T. and James K. Lowe Sr. He is survived by his loving wife, Lauren Lowe; his son, James Lowe; his parents, Bill and Kathie Lowe of Wilmington and Lewes; his marental grandmother, Elaine Smith; his siblings, Will (Kristen) Lowe of New York, Caroline (Adam) Deitch of Virginia, Christine Jimenez of Wilmington, and Mary Lowe of Wilmington; his 10 nieces and nephews; his many aunts and uncles; his mother-in-law, Sharon Frost; fathers-in-law, Tom Burkhardt (Connie) and Tim Schroeder; and his brothers-in-law, Tyler (Lauren Trapp) Burkhardt and Brandon (Taylor) Burkhardt.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 21, at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes, where friends may visit beginning at 5 p.m.
