Adults in need of haircuts at Faded Barber Shop in Rehoboth were turned away Sept. 2, when stylists gave free cuts to children just in time for the first day of school.

“We’re just doing kids today,” said stylist Angel Malabek.

Faded Barber Shop owner Ryan Ament said this was the first year his shop held the Labor Day event. “Everybody feels better when they have a fresh haircut,” Ament said.

Along with free haircuts, children received school supplies, and grilled burgers and hot dogs from Matt’s Fish Camp.

Love Creek Elementary third-grade teacher Alfredo Rodriguez said Ament works tirelessly with his business, and coaches football and baseball teams for his son, a second-grader at Rehoboth Elementary.

“This is a great opportunity for a going-back-to-school event for Cape students,” Rodriguez said.
