I too am grateful for Cape Gazette getting involved in obtaining detailed information about the new speed camera on Route 1. Yep, over 25,000 citations issued in one month equates to a lot of revenue for some entity, and how and where will the money be used?
While I was living on Long Island, N.Y., these same questions arose. When it became public knowledge that the cameras were owned, installed and serviced by the proprietary company (not a New York business) and that the bulk of the money collected reverted to the same company, not to the local or state coffers, the cameras were unceremoniously removed.
I can only hope that is not the situation in Sussex County.
