Fort Miles to host Delaware Goes to War event April 27

April 25, 2019

DNREC’s Division of Parks & Recreation, Cape Henlopen State Park, and the Fort Miles Museum and Historic Area will host the annual Delaware Goes to War event at Fort Miles beginning at 10 a.m., Saturday April 27. The public is invited to explore Fort Miles to see what life was like in the 1940s during the war and to experience part of the U.S. military coast defense that the fort provided.

Visitors can learn about what soldiers underwent in Delaware during this global conflict through exhibits, artifacts and special presentations for the Delaware Goes to War event. There will be live 1940s-era music by the WW Tunes, plotting-room demonstrations, vintage military vehicles, a U-858 surrender re-enactment and more.

The Rehoboth Concert Band will hold a free concert for visitors with paid park entrance fee from 5 to 6:15 p.m. Attendees may bring beach chairs to listen to 1940s-era music while overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

Admission to the Fort Miles Museum is $5 per person.
