Funky Lady Fashion and Home Accessories moves to Route 1 location

Tucked away off Munchy Branch Road and Route 1, Funky Lady Fashion, Home Accessories and Decor has found a new home.

Open since Feb. 1, the unique clothing and accessories store is quietly increasing its client base after owner Madge Paterson left her previous location inside The Old Screen Door in Lewes.

"We really had fun all winter decorating a blank space," Paterson said. "I developed a following, and just bit the bullet and got my own space."

The new unit features more than 1,200 square feet, she said, and offers more retail space to showcase the painted furniture, home accessories and gently worn clothing that Paterson sold at her former location for nearly three years.

Paterson said she travels and shops anywhere and everywhere to purchase new and gently worn clothing that are unique and in excellent condition.

The clothing, jewelry and accessories Paterson stocks fulfill her criteria of being fun, flirty, feminine, fabulous and reasonably priced before they make it to the sales floor, she said.

Then there's the selection of home decor at Funky Lady that ranges from locally-produced art (some paintings are by Paterson herself) to painted furniture, flamingo lampshades and wall hangings that keep the Funky Lady spirit alive at home.

"Having my own presence in retail allows me the space to do everything I want creatively," she said.

The owner has even taken extra fabric from clothing and tapestries to make her own 'boot cuffs' to add color and flair to the boots that have come into style in recent years.

"What sets us apart is that the clothing is unique, and it's a fun, feminine place to come," Paterson said. "Every woman should be able to look great and have fun with fashion."
